Who We Are
We are a grassroots political catalyst group that amplifies women's voices, engages new candidates, and provides resources to support women's success in local government campaigns across Northern Ontario. Founded on International Women’s Day 2017, PoliticsNOW quickly became a force to be reckoned with all over the North. The same year, we won CBC’s #WeAretheChange contest, a nationwide search to find the changemakers impacting Canada in honour of Canada150. This led to a documentary about the organization’s founding and early progress. In the years since, PoliticsNOW has become a leader in supporting municipal candidates nationwide, empowering hundreds of Canadians through impactful programs, and spearheading advocacy campaigns to raise awareness about women's issues and representation in politics.
At PoliticsNOW, our commitment to empowering women in politics is unwavering. Our diverse range of programs, which includes governance training, networking and collaborative sessions, campaign management workshops, and more, all have the same ultimate goal: providing women with the tools they need to succeed in politics and make a positive impact in their communities. We've equipped hundreds of women with the knowledge and skills needed to serve as board members, campaign managers, volunteers, and candidates in municipal, provincial, and federal elections.
Our commitment to empowering women extends beyond just the practical tools and resources we offer; we also strive to create spaces where women can support and uplift each other in their political journeys.
Our work is far from over. We are dedicated to continuing to make an even greater impact and striving towards a future where women are equally represented in politics and actively shaping the decisions that affect their communities.
