To celebrate Canada150, the CBC put out a call, looking for changemakers 19-40 that were making a difference in their communities. After a voting round that went to the public, we were selected as winners. Our prize? A short documentary about our efforts, and the founding of our organization. Here is all of the content related to #WeAretheChange, including the We Are Canada documentary that was made about us.

Only one out of nine city councils in Northern Ontario has gender parity. Amanda Kingsley Malo is changing those numbers. Thank you to CBC for featuring us on their We Are Canada series, to White Pine Pictures for spending two days with us and to Ryerson University for organizing the #WeAretheChange contest.

After a flurry of submissions, finalist selections and weeks of voting, Chelmsford, Ont., teacher Amanda Kingsley Malo emerged victorious.

As much as Amanda Kingsley Malo enjoyed her own venture into politics, she also came to understand how it could be a frustrating, even daunting experience for women, particularly at the municipal level.
