Why are you running for this position?
I work at West Parry Sound Health Centre, where we have been able to hire new staff, but the staff do not come because there is no affordable housing available in the area. I would like to find local solutions at the Municipal level to the housing crisis for all industries in the area looking for staff. I also wish to make our community a healthier one by using my nursing background to advocate for programs for all ages that encourage improved health.
What innovative projects would enhance life in your municipality?
I think we can address the housing shortage by working with community partners such as, the local college, contractors, businesses to find ways to encourage and build more affordable housing.
What is your favourite thing to do in your municipality?
We are so lucky to have the green spaces that we have. We have numerous beaches/parks within our municipality that allow people to get out and enjoy being at the beach or spending time in one of our parks.
Why do you think it’s important for women to be represented in civic leadership, including on committees, boards and municipal councils?
Women bring a different perspective to the table. They tend to look at things from a family dynamic and encourage safer and healthier living for all in the community.
What does a ‘feminist city’ mean to you?
A feminist city to me is one that creates collaboration amongst all community members, encouraging all to share their knowledge and experience to help create a safer and healthier community for all people to share, while encouraging diversity within the community.
Where can people find you?
I am out actively trying to meet all community members at their doorstep.
